I headed out to the market at about 12 this morning. It was a little hard to find. I feel like I'm in a real live Harvest Moon game! I have missions, cooking trials and I walk everywere. Hehehe
I knew I had to walk up towards school and past the MonoPrix (said Mono-pre). It's the Poitier's version of small mall with a grocey store like Publix in it. It's a marché but not the one I was looking for so I kept going.
A few roads up from the MonoPrem I saw this sign and had to stop and take a picture! Recongnize anyone? I did look for the Japanese Anima sign but I couldn't find it. The little bugger went hiding on me again. I'll keep my camera handy next week if it decides to pop back up!
Then I passed this thing. I'm not sure exactly what it is. Looks like it's a fountain of some sort? Who knows. It was a nice place to sit and rest for a bit before continuing on my quest!
At about 1pm this piggy FOUND the marché!
So I bought a sandwich made of... well I don't know and I don't want to know. It tasted good so lets leave it to that. The left picture is the meat that it was cut off of. That thing spends around and cooks on the side heaters. It was neat. Then I bought a rose. I haven't bought flowers in years and I felt pretty French with the rose sticking out of my backpack. I also bought potatoes, an onion and a tomato for dinner tomorrow night. All shops are closed on Sunday so you have to plan ahead.
On the way back from the marché I popped in a shop to get postcards! :-) I can wait to send them to my family and friends back home. I also got a big coffee cup caz I couldn't stand refilling mine every 10 minutes.
I thought I saw a really neat restaurant. So I ran up to grab a menu, but turns out this is a church. It's next to a Chocolate shop! There are so many chocolate and coffee shops here it's like being in heaven.
Then one of the scariest things happened! A bus went by. It's still moving in the picture. Look how close this bus is to the sidewalk. Now imagine the bus jumpping the curb! Crazy but that's Poitiers! :-)
