Friday Plans a Preview!

If my knees will let me I’m going to La Rochelle this coming Friday!  I found a tourist map and already have destinations mapped out.  I’m hoping that after Thursday the majority of Createam will be behind me and so will my last French exam so I will have a little time to play.  It’ll also give me time to research a little about La Rochelle before I get there so I’ll have some history cued up before I go.  This will help me know what pictures I should try to get beforehand.  I’ll also research buses in La Rochelle.  I don’t plan to do the amount of walking that I usually do on my day trips.  This time I will have to go at a slower pace and rest more often.  I’m actually looking forward to that!

Places on maps are really closer than they seem.
Whom ever did the blue line walked this map in 20 minutes.

My list of places to visit:
  • The Aquarium
  • The coast of the three towers
  • My buddies at the Office of Tourism (The offices are always staffed with nice people and I love collecting maps for my Daddy!)
  • The tower of St-Nicolas
  • The church of St-Sauveur
  • The Protestant Temple
  • The Cloitre des dames blanches (I’m not sure what this is yet but if Cloitres are what I think they are than it’s really pretty looking hallway, a very picture worthy stop.)
  • The Town hall
  • The house of Henri III
  • The Cathedral of La Rochelle
  • The Palace of Justice
  • The mall (Maybe)
  • Grosse Horloge (I’ll pass by and if it’s interesting I’ll blog it!)
  • The tower of La Lanterne
  • The tower of La Chaine
The earliest and cheapest train leaves at about 6am and arrives at 7am.  The cheapest train back leaves at 9pm.  So that gives me about 14 hours to explore.  I think if I take it slow, ride the bus and not be so determined to see everything I should be ok. I have decided that I’ll be coming back to Europe one day.  When I do I’ll need some destinations to visit!
