- US trac phones don't work in Europe, starting when the plane takes off.
- Just becouse a product looks familiar, it still might not be the American equivelent. Getting something that looks like crest toothpast then ending up brushing with denter goo is not cool.
- Here there is a ton of chocolate! Even chocolate bread, but Dr. Pepper is hard to find.
- Wifi means internet connection, not Wifi.
- In America cars watch out for people in the street. Here people watch out for cars.
- The thing on the Right (on the wall) has absolutly nothing to do with the heat! The thing on the Left (on the floor) does.
- The frig has to be turned on. It will not be when you arrive.
- The cheapest sugar here is the brand "Daddy".
- In Poitiers the personal comfort distance between one person and another is a lot closer.
- Bathrooms will have both a woman and man sign. Don't worry. People wash hands together but they do have sperate bathrooms.
- The French are always at least 15 minutes late... or so I'm told.
- Most milk sits on a shelf next to the soda.
- You'll go to a ton of diffrent places just to find flat american cheese and american style bread for grilled cheese and soup night.
- DO NOT EAT THE PIZZA!
- Signs writen in English are funnier to Americans... the French will just look at you like you crazy. They are 1/2 right.
- Don't buy a can opener, you won't need it. All can have a pop top.
- Students talk or play on their computer before class, during class, and after class. It's normal.
- Classes are very diffrent. One class may meet on Monday one week and then you might not go to that class again for 1 or 2 weeks. When you go the second time it might be on a diffrent day or diffrent time or both!
- The grade scale is 1-20 with 20 being the best instead of 1-4 or F-A.
- Coffee comes in really small cups.
- When you can't find a 'how to learn French' book, children books work just fine.
